Dallas Influencer Who ‘Didn’t Vote For This’ Laments $372 FedEx Bill Over Sweater Ordered From Abroad: ‘The Tarrifs Got Me!’

No one escapes

There is no escaping the impact of Trump’s tariff increase policy, both for his supporters and non-supporters. With the 47th president increasing tariffs and China retaliating with a 125% increase, there has been an outcry from citizens over how brutal the decision is.

A Dallas influencer who claimed not to have voted for Trump is the latest to rant about the government’s decision. In a TikTok clip captioned, “The Tariffs got me,” she lamented how she was charged $372 for importing clothes from the UK.

The woman, who bought the outfit for a trip, explained that she initially thought she was safe from the tariffs. She believed getting it from the UK and ordering before the increase was enough. However, she was hit with a big surprise. “It doesn’t matter where you order it from; it matters where it’s made,” she explained.

The influencer went on to show the bill from FedEx, charging her $372, a bulk of which was the surcharge on a sweater vest made in China. She revealed that the sweater was originally $58 but went to over $200 because of the 125% tariff on Chinese goods.

Complaining about the tariff bill, the woman pointed out that the average citizen is at the receiving end of the deal. “These tariffs don’t affect the companies; they are just going to pass the cost to us,” she elaborated. “Tariffs are bad economic policy. I didn’t vote for this, why do I have to find out?”

Unsurprisingly, the video went mainstream, with several netizens raising concerns about how unfair Trump’s policy is. One netizen questioned, “Wait a damn minute. Is this how we are going to pay these tariffs? A surprise bill that comes later??”

Another netizen suggested, “Send them a letter saying ‘Trump said that the company will pay for it.’”

A third person emphasized China’s importance to the US business atmosphere, while a fourth observer added, “It should just be Republicans who pay the tariffs.”

Since the increase in tariffs, several businesses have been forced to shut down, leaving many owners distraught. Similar to this Dallas influencer, a California woman went on an emotional rant about closing her business due to the rising costs.

As we reported, the businesswoman expressed that she resigned from her corporate job to start a kids’ fitness brand. However, she was closing the business because the cost doubled due to the tariffs.

Despite complaints coming in about how economically inefficient the tariff policy is, Trump doesn’t seem to be backing down on his decision.
