While dangerous driving is fairly commonplace across the US, the city of Atlanta has a 67.4% higher likelihood of accidents than the national average, and is allegedly one of the most dangerous cities to drive in, according to recent statistics. A recent incident helps illustrate this fact, as an Atlanta driver was caught on camera “showing off” his driving skills to his friends, but it ended with his vehicle crashing into the entrance of a popular nightclub building.
The incident reportedly occurred last night, on Monday September 1, and the clip is recorded by a witness at the scene. Taking place outside of a South City Kitchen restaurant, the brief footage starts with the loud roars of a car exhaust, but initially, you can’t see where the noise is coming from. Moments later, however, a red sporty vehicle comes into view driving rapidly up the street.
The Atlanta driver appears to lose control of the vehicle, and skids to and fro before crashing into the building of a local club called Domaine. You can hear nearby locals watching on say, “No” and “That was so stupid“. The driver and passenger of the vehicle can be seen exiting the car, but it’s unclear if they sustained any significant injuries during the accident.
At the end of the footage, someone can be heard yelling, “Call the police” and the driver can be seen attempting to move the car, but the damage to the vehicle is quite serious, as you can see that the front bumper and side bumper have crumpled due to the collision.
With the viral video circulating online right now, most social media reactions obviously criticised the driver’s reckless manoeuver. Over on Reddit, one user opined, “Glad the driver hit a wall instead of a pedestrian. These clowns need their licenses revoked indefinitely” while another replied, “I highly doubt they have a license.” Both confirming where the accident took place, and emphasising the dangers of driving in Atlanta, one commenter declared, “This pretty much represents the average Atlanta driver is this part of the city.”
Hopefully, no one was seriously hurt during the accident, but due to the sheer force of the crash, it’d be wise for all involved to get checked out by a medical professional.
