It’s well-known news by now that Prince Harry‘s private meetup with King Charles did not go as ideally as he had planned. While reportedly entering through the visitor’s entrance to Clarence House with a smug look on his face, the Prince left with a defeated and despondent countenance. But it wasn’t just because the King didn’t give in to his demands about Meghan Markle, money, or whatever else Harry wanted. But it was because a woman whom Harry labeled “dangerous” was present: Queen Camilla.
Now, Camilla has her own reputation to deal with on whether the public sees her as an ideal individual to be in her position as Queen consort of the UK. But for those who dislike the Sussexes, she turned out to be quite the heroine of this story. According to royal gossip commentator Neil Sean, Prince Harry went into Clarence House thinking he’d had a full hour of privacy with King Charles. But not only was the actual meeting reportedly less than 20 minutes. Harry had a surprise encounter with Queen Camilla. Now, King Charles had other visitors that same day, and it’s said that Harry likely thought Camilla was just another one of them. But instead of leaving, she stayed put.
Queen Camilla Didn’t Let Prince Harry Have His Way
Still, even with the Queen’s presence, it’s possible that Prince Harry still did spout some amount of nonsense to the King. After all, it was reported that Charles was overheard saying, “He’s not listening,” after his son left Clarence House. But thanks to both Charles’ resilience and Camilla by his side, Prince Harry did not get his way and left the meeting defeated. Many fans of the Royal Family are ecstatic to hear that the Queen was there to straighten out Harry if he tried anything funny. “Camilla is a countrywoman. She’s an outdoorsy, former horse girl. Nobody f**ks with women like that,” remarks a Reddit user. “Camilla was right to stay in that meeting,” another commenter praised. “Harry can’t be trusted.”
Hundreds more shared a similar sentiment of relief that Camilla was there to protect King Charles. He is, after all, quite old, tired, and physically ill. While he is still a King, being left alone with the wayward son of a manipulative wife could have been quite risky. Some also say that Princess Anne would have been a better candidate to “put Harry in his place.” One user mentioned how “the presence of a no-nonsense step-parent is a huge deterrent to a narcissist child of any age when they’d otherwise feel they had the space to abuse their parent.” And most certainly, Prince Harry couldn’t abuse or take advantage of Charles when the King had backup.
