James Bond actor Daniel Craig could make a surprise cameo on the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, The Force Awakens.
Fellow British actor Simon Pegg, best known for his role in Shaun of The Dead, accidentally slipped Daniel Craig’s involvement during an interview with The Sun newspaper at the premiere of Man Up in London.
Speaking to reporters regarding his role, he stated, “I wasn’t a Stormtrooper.”
He then added, “Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper.”
Realizing his mistake, he admitted, “I shouldn’t have said that.”
Shortly after realizing his mistake, he clarified that Craig’s involvement is still speculation, and that he was repeating a rumor he heard elsewhere. He later told Collider, “Why is everyone leaping on this? It was a rumor last summer, wasn’t it? I read it in the paper. It may be untrue, like most of the other rumors, like Cumberbatch and Cruise being in it.”
The Skyfall actor has been rumored to have a small part in the upcoming movie, with his character being a mystery up until now.
An insider said: ‘Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role – and was happy to have his name left off the posters.
Regardless, Craig’s involvement still remains a rumor. The eagerly awaited first installment of the new Star Wars trilogy hits theaters on Dec. 18. What do you think about this news? Let us know in the comments…we always enjoy a good rumor!
