Disney+ took the streaming world by storm in November of 2019, and one of their most popular shows after their opening was The Mandalorian. On Tuesday, Disney has officially announced the dates for their upcoming original shows WandaVision, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Disney also announced the highly anticipated return of their original show, The Mandalorian.

This year’s rollout for Disney+ starts with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is set to come out in August 2020. The Mandalorian, which was one of the most popular shows of 2019, will be out in October. The really good news is that the release date for WandaVision was moved up to December of this year.

Disney gave us a fun sneak peek at their upcoming shows during the Super Bowl, including one show whose release date has yet to be announced, Loki. The sneak peek offered us a glimpse of the sitcom-esque setting of WandaVision, as well as hints of Bucky and Sam in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The Mandalorian does not feature in the Super Bowl snippet, but we do know that there will be a rollout of Baby Yoda gear.

Admittedly with streaming giants like Netflix and Hulu, this lineup seems a little light in terms of original content. However, Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, has stated that this is a deliberate plan.

This fall is going to be fun for nerds, and hopefully, we will get more details regarding the release of Loki in the coming months. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if Marvel chooses to make these shows closer to the comics than some of their previous movies. Especially shows like WandaVision and Loki, which have such long and complicated storylines and history in comics. If they end up being like the movies, we can certainly expect some similarities and some creative license from Marvel.

I'm a polymath, writer, and an all-around nerd. If it involves gaming, anime/manga, or comics I probably have an opinion on it. I love spending time with my dog, Jester, and reading anything that sparks my fancy.
