Huzzah! If you’re a Metal Gear Solid fan, you were probably saddened and anxious when it was revealed that David Hayter was to be replaced with Kiefer Sutherland to play the iconic role of Solid Snake, but now he’s back! But probably not as you would have expected or even wanted.

Unexpected but also kind of fun! Hayter himself was on Twitter promoting the commercials.
Snake is back.

Not quite the return anyone would have guessed, but it’s a nostalgia trip if nothing else.
David spoke out against the decision made my Hideo Kojima to replace him, stating “”I think he handled it pretty badly and I’ve got no particular love for Kojima” and that he didn’t “feel any need to go back and work with him again”. As it turns out, Kojima had been trying to replace him for years, even going as far as to offer the part to Kurt Russell (Solid Snake is based on the character Snake Plissken, who Russell played in Escape From New York for MGS 3.  But as we all know Kojima is no longer involved with the series and since Konami is assuredly wanting to monetize the franchise for as much as possible while it’s still hot, those of you who never got over Hayter’s replacement have one final nugget of Solid Snake to enjoy, as you did back in the day.
