David Soul Passing Stirs up Tragic Memories for His Family
The actor was not always the easy and carefree man he showed his fans. As his fans continue to mourn his loss, his family struggles with some painful memories. David was married five times and fathered six children. His family claims he struggled with alcoholism for many years.
The Daily Mail reports that David Soul’s family members say that he became a very different person when he drank and often lost control of his temper. Patti Carnel Sherman, Soul’s third wife, states: ‘The old adage ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’ is what sticks in my mind.
In 1980, Patti and David engaged in a heated confrontation. David lost control of his anger and physically attacked his seven-month-pregnant wife. He was ordered to attend alcohol and anger management therapy sessions.

David Soul’s son, Andrew Solberg, 38, describes his father, David Soul, as selfish. He claims David only focused on his wants and needs and spent his life pursuing women and alcohol. Andrew admits they had a complicated relationship. He said he often hated his father but knew he had his demons.

During David Soul’s final days, he was in and out of consciousness. His son Andrew admits he was unable to get to his dad’s bedside but poured his heart out to him over the phone.
Andrew adds, ‘I know he loved me – even though he didn’t know how to show it. I hope he is finally at peace.’ David Soul died soon after from complications of lung cancer and heart disease.
