DC Comics announced a new line of graphic novels called DC Compact Comics. These condensed graphic novels bring fan-favorite issues from DC’s library in a smaller format. These new comics will explore a wide array of genres across DC’s lineup. The pared down novels are set to launch in 2024 and will debut at a $9.99 price point. The publisher is excited to offer a new graphic novel reading experience that will fit in the palm of your hand.
DC Compact Comics
DC Compact Comics comes in a standard book trim of 5.5” x 8.5”. This new format is meant to be more reader-friendly as fans can take these Compact Comics on the go more easily. Plus, you get an entire series in the palm of your hand. SVP and General Manager of DC Anne DePies acknowledges that this size “is the most widely circulated softcover book size in the US.” Not to mention it is a popular choice amongst graphic novel enthusiasts in the international market.
For now, the lineup only pulls from pre-existing works in DC’s library. Popular series like Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’s Watchmen will be immediately available when the new line launches. Plus, DC staples like All-Star Superman from Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely will debut in the new program.
Launch Titles
The DC Compact Comics will launch in June of 2024 and come in at $9.99. The line will cover many genres across DC’s library, including thrillers, mystery, and fantasy. At launch, several fan-favorites will be available in the new size, including the Hugo Award-winning Far Sector. The other titles include:
