After winning the bronze medal, a Norwegian biathlete, Sturla Holm Laegreid, announced that he cheated on his girlfriend. The announcement aired on international television and has captured attention, including that of a DC TikToker. He revealed that he told his girlfriend about it a week ago, before he competed in the Olympics. When asked whether he made the right choice in making the announcement, he says, “Really, I don’t know if it was the right choice or not.”
He continues, “We make different choices during our life, and that’s how you make life.” After his brilliant win, he “made the choice to tell the world what he did,” which he explains was an attempt to prove himself to his girlfriend. The biathlete says, “Maybe there’s a chance she’ll see what she really means to me.” His statement has come under fire online, with one DC TikToker spilling the tea on the scandal. The biathlete only seems interested in winning back his girlfriend. He admits that his gesture may not work, but he doesn’t “want to think [he] didn’t try everything.”
DC TikToker Calls Out Biathlete
The DC TikToker states that “not only did that man overshadow his teammate’s win,” referring to the fact that his teammate won the gold, but he also stole attention from the winner’s caring gesture. This revelation comes in “an insane update on the cheating biathlete case.” The winner had “dedicated his gold medal to their other teammate, who tragically and unexpectedly passed away in December.” The statement is supported by comments, such as one that reads, “The winner was also the person who found his friend and teammate dead.”
Despite the focus on the scandal, the biathlete shares that he “doesn’t want to steal the show.” He expresses that he hopes “this is just a day or two long thing.” His statements are not well-received by the DC TikToker, who claims, “That man stole what should have been one of the most heartfelt and meaningful moments of this Winter Olympics.” She doesn’t stop there; she continues, “He made it about his own issues.” This furthers her thoughts from a previous video, in which she states, “He got gold in Olympic-level guilt tripping.”
The DC TikToker doesn’t mince words: “If there was a narcissism event in the Olympics, he would be top of the podium.” This is supported by those in the comments who agree, “it feels like a manipulation tactic against his ex.” One thanks her for being “the first to highlight this.” The TikToker then humorously suggests, “the only next move here is for the gold medalist and the ex to get together.”
