Free Comic Book Day took place over the weekend and one of the issues just introduced DC’s Insomnia into the Universe. This villain is gearing up to take center stage in the upcoming horror-themed Knight Terrors event. While the FCBD issue doesn’t give too much away on this nightmare villain, it does show that they are not messing around. The heroes of DC are in for some serious scares this summer.

Introducing DC’s Insomnia
Insomnia makes their debut in the FCBD issue of Dawn of DC – Knight Terrors #1. The issue comes from writer Joshua Williamson and artists Chris Bachalo and Howard Porter. It follows Bruce Wayne’s son and current Robin Damian Wayne as he becomes trapped in his own dream-turned-nightmare thanks to Insomnia. As the young Wayne travels through his dream, he soon encounters deformed versions of DC heroes like The Flash and Batman.
He then awakens in his bed with Bruce Wayne attempting to comfort him. However, Damian soon realizes that the nightmare is far from over as Bruce transforms into a demonic creature. Before Batman’s sidekick can wake up, the deformed Bruce promises that Damian will “never sleep again”. As he finally does wake up, he realizes that he had passed out after helping Batman stop Firefly and Killer Moth. However, he is unable to remember his dream.
Just as Batman and Robin disappear into the night, the eyes of new villain Insomnia appears in the sky, watching the father-son duo from above. This is just a small taste of what DC’s Insomnia has in store for these heroes in the Knight Terrors event.
Knight Terrors
Announced earlier this year, the Knight Terrors event kicks off this July with Knight Terrors: First Blood #1. The event will force the heroes of DC to face their biggest fears in the nightmare realm of Insomnia. This terrifying new villain will engulf heroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in their own twisted nightmares. The only way these heroes will be able to save the world is with the help of an unlikely hero: Deadman.
The first one-shot will be followed by a four-issue Knight Terror series and a number of two-issue miniseries.
