The popular horror multiplayer title Dead by Daylight will be getting its very first single-player game, and it’s coming from both Behaviour Interactive alongside Supermassive, the developer behind popular narrative horror games like Until Dawn and The Quarry. The official Dead by Daylight Twitter account is teasing that there will be some more information coming during the 2023 Game Awards.

Dead by Daylight has been one of the most popular ongoing horror titles in the gaming industry since its initial release back in 2016. The game has managed to maintain relevance through multiple eras while adding a plethora of content, both original and derivative of popular horror movie franchises like Saw and more recently Child’s Play. While there is a lot of lore surrounding the entity and what goes on within the fog, there hasn’t yet been any game further exploring the world behind Dead by Daylight, and that’s all about to change.

The official video that recently went live on the Dead by Daylight Twitter/X account is a message from some of the personnel over at Supermassive, the major developer working with Behaviour Interactive on this new single-player game. The key detail about the upcoming title that they share in the teaser is that it will be a branching pathway narrative experience similar to what’s seen in other popular Supermassive games, just set in the world of Dead by Daylight.

The other major lore detail shared is that the game will be set outside of the realm of The Entity. Whether that means The Entity will be involved in any larger capacity or not remains anyone’s guess, but that does cast some confusion as to what this title will actually be about. It is mentioned that there will be a “new cast of characters”, implying none of the survivors from Dead by Daylight will be present, but this could potentially be the origin story of one or more of the original killers from the game, like The Trapper or The Nurse, prior to being brought into the realm of The Entity.

More information about the game seems set to be revealed at The Game Awards on December 7th.
