Marvel’s Dead X-Men miniseries kicks off this week with a quick trip to hell. Specifically, this new team of X-Men finds themselves in a version of New York City consumed by hellish demons. The series comes as part of Marvel’s Fall of X event. It finds the X-Men elected to the team at the last Hellfire Gala rising from the grave. These mutants had already fallen in the war against Orchis. It includes Jubilee, Dazzler, Prodigy, Frenzy, and Cannonball. Together, this team is working towards a bigger goal…all in the name of Charles Xavier.

Marvel has released previews for Dead X-Men #1 before it drops later this week. These previews show this new team of recently resurrected X-Men on a mission through the multiverse. Through the use of the Moira Engine, the team travels through a portal to destinations unknown. As they rip through space and time, they land in a very different version of New York City. This version has been completely ravaged and destroyed by war. Even worse, there are hordes of demons stalking the streets. They soon sniff out the X-Men and attack.

More Dead X-Men previews reveal the mastermind behind this hellish New York City. The demons belong to Magik, AKA Illyana Rasputin. In this timeline, Magik has become the Lord of All Hells. She has gained complete control of Earth and turned it into a living nightmare. Eventually, the X-Men realize there is nothing in this timeline for them and make a quick getaway back to the White Hot Room, where they have set up a base of operations.

Fall of X

The Dead X-Men series comes out of the Fall of X event, which has seen the mutants of the world scattered, missing, or dead at the hands of the mutant-hating organization Orchis. Even more, the event is ushering the Age of Krakoa out to make room for something new. What exactly awaits the mutants of Marvel is unknown, but until then, they have some final fights to deal with.

Dead X-Men #1 comes from Steve Foxe and Vincenzo Carratu. It is on sale 01/31.
