The summer of Deadpool and Wolverine is just getting started as Marvel announces another series event teaming the two up. The summer-long saga, known as Weapon X-Traction, will play out over eight Marvel comics and backup stories. It all kicks off in July’s Incredible Hulk #14, which features the first of eight backup stories for the series. These stories come from writer Ryan North with artist Javier Garron bringing them to life. This is the second series to put the two iconic characters together before their MCU tag-team in summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool And Wolverine Together Again And Again And Again
According to Marvel, Weapon X-Traction begins with a rather weary Wolverine running into his on-again-off-again friend Deadpool. The two meet at their favorite watering hole, where the weary, clawed mutant finds a rather clingy Deadpool. From there, the two embark on an epic journey of “non-friendship” that takes the duo across the Multiverse. A journey that finds them battling zombies, gun-wielding librarians, and each other.
This summer event comes after Deadpool and Wolverine star in another tag-teaming series, Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII. The three-issue miniseries finds the two joining forces as a World War encompasses the globe. Both series are also joined this year by a new solo series for the merc with a mouth. Deadpool kicks off in April with writer Cody Ziglar and artist Roge Antonio. The duo will take Wade Wilson on a family-drama-fueled journey with a side of Deadpool-approved violence.
The Summer of Deadpool
Of course, these new comics come in the wake of the Deadpool & Wolverine film trailer. The third installment in the Deadpool film franchise finds Ryan Reynold’s Wilson finally entering the MCU. This time around, he is joined by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and a bunch of rumored cameos from past Fox Studios films. From the looks of the first trailer, the MCU may not be ready for this kind of superhero.
Weapon X-Traction kicks off this July.
