Announced via Kojima Productions Twitter earlier today, Death Stranding has gone gold. This means development has finished ahead of it’s November 8th release date.

DEATH STRANDING is complete and has gone gold!! Hideo Kojima, the Kojima Productions team, everyone at Sony and Guerrilla, cast members; all put their heart and soul into it. In 2015, game director, Hideo Kojima, parted ways with game studio Konami. After years of working together on games such as Metal Gear Solid, Kojima created his own independent studio, Kojima Productions. From this created a partnership with PlayStation and the E3 2016 reveal of console exclusive, Death Stranding.

While not much is known about the overall narrative of Death Stranding, the concept is gathered to be unique. According to Kojima, “Death Stranding is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the ‘Strand’ or connection.“.

Starring The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus as the main character, Sam Porter Bridges, your task is to build bridges between societies and reconnect cities within a broken society. Following the collapse of civilization, Death Stranding brings a unique story to the table. The game also features legendary film actors and directors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Nicolas Winding Refn and Guillermo del Toro.

Also announced earlier this week via PlayStation’s ‘State of Play’ was a new limited edition Death Standing themed PlayStation 4 Pro console. Sporting a sleek white matte finish with a custom design the console also comes with an exclusive controller. Themed around the baby pod that Sam carries on him is an orange transparent controller. Also included is a copy of the game. The console is due for release on the same day, November 8th.

Death Standing hopes to join the highly regarded pedestal of PlayStation exclusives. With games such as God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man, it’s no easy feat. Joining a heavy line-up of upcoming games such as The Last of Us Part II and Final Fantasy VII Remake, PlayStation has a heavy release schedule. Though details are scarce about Death Stranding as a whole, its mysteries will be revealed on November 8th.
