Death Stranding is an upcoming video game by Kojima Productions for the PlayStation 4. This is the first game from developer Hideo Kojima after he left Konami in 2015, Death Stranding debuted at E3 2016 with a trailer featuring Norman Reedus.
Kojima; best known for the Metal Gear Solid franchise, stated in an article with the PlayStation Blog that Death Stranding will run on a modified version of the Decima Engine. The Decima Engine is the same engine used by Guerilla Games in Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Kojima described the concept for Death Stranding in an interview with IGN back in June 2016. He described the concept as “sticks and ropes”;Â where the sticks are equivalent to more tradition interactions in video games, such as shooting, and the ropes are connections between the players.
Gameplay for Death Stranding was revealed at E3 2018, where Kojima stated on the PlayStation blog; “The first half and the last sequence, in particular, are most representative of the actual gameplay.”.
