I have various railroad crossings in the area where I live, and I’m cautious about crossing them whenever I go on my daily walks. Realistically, I know I’ll have enough time to get out of the way if the railroad crossing barriers come down and a train comes barreling toward me. However, one Arizona delivery truck driver wasn’t as lucky when he found himself trapped while on an active railroad. Fortunately, he was able to get out of the way, but the same can’t be said for the traffic light and signs that took the brunt of the damage. Let me tell you, this video has reignited my fear of railroad crossings.
The above video is just one of three posted by TikTok user @yaa._sinn that detail the moment a delivery truck found itself stuck on a set of railroad tracks. This is only the second video of three, with the first featuring a few worried bystanders trying to figure out what to do. You can hear the train in the distance, but the camera’s angle doesn’t let you see just how close it actually is. In this video, the truck driver decided to test his luck and make a U-turn to try to avoid the train. However, judging by how he was positioned, you can immediately tell that he won’t make it. Fortunately, the truck’s cabin made it across the tracks safely, but the actual storage container was brutally damaged.
Instead of taking cover from the debris, the bystanders watching, including the man recording, watched on as shards of metal and glass blew across the street. The delivery truck driver continued to drive away from the wreckage to try to find a safe place to park and get out while dragging the destroyed traffic light along. In the third video, you can see that the truck driver was unharmed, albeit worried about the damage caused to his work vehicle. Commentators flooded the replies with praise that the driver wasn’t injured, with others focusing more on how he must have felt in the moment, “ik truck driver heart mustโve been racing๐ญ.”
Honestly, I don’t think I would have been able to get out of the truck just because of pure embarrassment. How did he manage to get trapped in such an awkward position in the first place? One of the top comments reiterates this, saying, “at least he’s alive,, but ik he’s FIRED๐ฉ.” While I hate to see anyone lose their job, I don’t see any other outcome for him. Fortunately for the bystanders who were watching and recording, no one was injured by the flying debris.
