This year certainly did not have a favorable start in ‘safe flying’, concerning how many flight-related accidents occurred within a short span of time. Another plane crash involving a Delta jet and a military aircraft almost happened over North Dakota. Fortunately, the pilot was quick with his reaction and maneuvering, saving many lives from a possibly deadly situation. On top of that, the pilot remained calm throughout the entire situation and did his best to make sure the passengers did not panic.
One of the passengers aboard the flight told KFYR-TV that the Delta pilot was “weirdly calm” during the incident. “We took a really hard turn, and that’s when the pilot got on the intercom and said, ‘Sorry everybody, I’ll explain everything when we land safely,'” she recalled. While those aboard were doubtless anxious about what exactly was going on, they remained quiet as the pilot did his job to keep the plane safe. Eventually, the plane did land safely, but those watching the nearly avoided collision take place claimed that “The other plane nearly hit us, and it went so low it passed under us.” Rather terrifying, if you ask me.
After landing, the pilot was very transparent and told the passengers how they had to loop around to avoid the flight path with the bomber. He also apologized for the inconvenience, saying it was “not a fun day at work.” Needless to say, no one believes the pilot should have apologized, as he was more of a hero than anything. “He deserves thanks and praise, no need to apologize, but I appreciate he recognized it might’ve alarmed the passengers,” remarks a grateful YouTube commenter. A few commenters further explained how there was a lack of communication between the civilian airport and Air Force personnel that caused this collision to almost happen.
Of course, online users are still in shock that something terrible could have happened in the first place, not to mention the poor communication between military and civilian airlines. “What is going on with military pilots this year?!” remarked a Redditor. “Poor leadership,” said a reply, garnering over 6K upvotes. “This is what happens, when you put untrained, incompetent scumbags in charge of government departments,” agrees one angry commenter. Whatever the case, at least no one was killed or hurt; hopefully, though, communication channels will be improved after this incident.
