A woman has accused a man of threatening to call ICE after he allegedly hit her car in Houston, Texas. Despite the attempt at intimidation, police never came, and the woman went to file a report against the man, who appears to be an immigrant himself.
A brief fragment of the verbal back and forth was posted on TikTok by the woman, Andrea Mejia. In the most recent update, the man allegedly hit her car with his vehicle and told her he was going to call the police. Andrea, however, was all for it, and then the man was accused of threatening to call ICE on her, given the fact that she is a Latina woman.
“So, he hit our car, and now he is threatening to call ICE. He can call whoever he wants. We’re going to wait here; we have nothing to hide,” Andrea said in the video.
However, despite the man’s intentions, Andrea is actually a U.S. citizen. She said, “I told him I can give him a picture of a passport ’cause we don’t have the ID, but ok. That’s the route he wants to go.”
According to Andrea, she waited for two hours for the police to show up at the scene, but they never arrived. Then, she tried to report the incident to the police, but the authorities didn’t want to file a report as she needed the man’s insurance information.
Despite the frustrating outcome, the Texas woman warned others against “entitled” individuals, such as the man, and recommended purchasing dashcams for similar situations.
Outrage and Ironic Reactions Flood Social Media
Many in the comments blasted the man for the alleged attempt to use ICE as an intimidation tactic. One user said, “He’s such a weirdo.” Another commented, “Was up with everybody using the ice card on raza. [sic]” A third one added, “What ice has to do with a car accident that is just ignorant people trying to scare.”
However, others pointed out that the man had a heavy accent, meaning that he was possibly an immigrant living in Texas himself.
“Based on how I hear his voice, I’m gonna assume that he should be concerned also,” one person commented. Another user wrote, “What is it with the people who are the racist but they are immigrants and they do stuff like this make me laugh.” A third one said, “Based on how I hear his voice, I’m gonna assume that he should be concerned also.”
It’s still unknown whether the man was an immigrant. Still, threatening to call ICE, especially if you’re in the wrong, is nothing short of despicable.
