Many people think being a stay-at-home mom is an easy job, but that’s far from the truth. While it is rewarding in many ways, there isn’t much income for them, and these women often face many challenges, especially when they don’t have the right person by their side. An example of this happened not long ago in Boca Raton, Florida, where a stay-at-home mom shared her heartbreaking story: 37 years old, two kids, no job or income, and soon-to-be divorced.

@cortneygetsfit

I never thought I’d be here. 37 years old. Two kids. No income. No safety net. And suddenly being told I need to ‘use my own card’ when I don’t even HAVE one. This is the reality for so many stay-at-home moms — and nobody prepares us for it. Maybe this is why I’ve been drowning in anxiety and depression. But I’m sharing it because too many of us are suffering in silence. If you’re going through something similar, you’re not alone. We deserve security. We deserve support. We deserve to feel safe starting over. #sahm #womenempowerment #divorcesupport #mentalhealthmatters #momsoftiktok @Cortney Gets Fit Save this post + Share it with another woman who needs this

Cortney Gets Fit is the TikTok user who shared her sad tale. In the video, you can hear her talk about her experience as a stay-at-home mom in Florida, which never prepared her for what would come.

She starts by saying she’s going through a scary situation: being female, married, 37, with two kids, a stay-at-home mom for over 10 years, with no income, and able to spend only because of her husband’s credit card. Sadly, everything changed two weeks ago.

According to the stay-at-home mom, her husband filed for divorce. She also mentions that she has only been using an American Express card in her name, but her husband pays for it and threatened to cut it off, leaving her without money. Later, the man told her to use her own card, but, as she already told us, she doesn’t have anything.

She ends the clip by saying how she feels like a “little girl who needs her mommy,” because she doesn’t know how to take care of herself. The truth is that it is undoubtedly a terrifying situation. While many people have been empathetic toward the stay-at-home mom, others think she could have used this decade to prepare professionally for such a situation.

“This should be a warning to all women, being a SAHM is a dangerous game to play…” commented Carrie via TikTok.

“I feel like all SAHMs should get as many degrees as they can while staying at home just in case…😩” said Lacole216 via TikTok.

A lot of people are on the victim’s side, claiming that she should seek legal help, as the man can’t leave her like that. They share kids, so a legal dispute is unavoidable. Still, this should be a warning to many stay-at-home moms. You should never depend entirely on someone else. You need to look for ways to have your own income and prepare yourself professionally in case a terrifying situation like this arises.
