Amid all the negative publicity Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have experienced over the years, one thing that has finally driven the Duke to consider moving back to his home country — family. Vin Diesel’s Fast & Furious memes aside, a shared blood bond is one of the most important aspects of being human, especially when said bloodline is royal. Former royal butler Grant Harrold tells the New York Post that having a “connection to his old home” is “something that Prince Harry’s wanted and been thinking about… You’ve only got one family, and this means he’s suddenly realized that.”
Despite the lavish, Hollywood-esque A-lister lifestyle that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been attempting to live in California, the Duke has come to his senses that American celebrities will never replace his actual family or friends.
“It’s very big moving to another country and not having any connection to your old home,” says Harrold. “I’ve always said that Harry will probably return to the UK — his family are here, his friends are here, this is where he grew up.”

However, even if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex successfully find a home in England, it doesn’t mean that the rift between them and the royal family will suddenly be mended, not after “the irreparable damage they have caused.” King Charles’ former butler says that it’s too late for Harry’s house-hunting to make a difference, as “the trust has been broken, and the royal family is OK distancing themselves from them.”
Still, this turn of events for the Sussexes could be a small yet positive start of a new chapter in mending broken relationships. It’s no secret that Meghan has been orchestrating much of the ‘American dream’ life for her and her family, but it seems Harry has perhaps been able to convince her that he wishes to reconnect with his family and true home. “Not having a home in the UK was probably a joint decision initially, but as time goes on, people’s views and decisions can change,” Harrold tells The Post.
However, with the “current health crisis” of King Charles, “time is ticking” for Harry and Meghan. The rebel prince will need to act soon if he wishes to regain even a fragment of the reputation he’s lost with his family.
