Each Specimen ID quest in Destiny 2‘s Episode: Echoes allows you to collect a new specimen to display within the H.E.L.M. with the help of Failsafe, and also pick up some new enhancements and abilities within Failsafe’s remote uplink. The Specimen ID: NES004 quest can be picked up during Part 1 of Episode: Echoes’ A Rising Chorus: Part II quest. Let’s take a look at how to complete it.

Take a look at our Destiny 2 playlist above…

Step 1

  • Open Echo Chests at the end of Episode: Echoes activities in the H.E.L.M. to decrypt the algorithm.
    • Complete Echoes activities, like Battlegrounds, then open Echo Chests within the H.E.L.M.

Step 2

The algorithm can only be unlocked with a unique energy signature. Failsafe can replicate this signature by confusing Echo Engrams into Echo gear in the H.E.L.M.

  • Focus Echo Gear 5 times.

Step 3

Continuing to extract more Vex data from Nessus has improved Failsafe’s research capabilities. Collecting and depositing Extracted Data grants buffs for your fireteam and will aid Failsafe in her research.

This unique specimen has additional layers of encryption that are particularly tough to decrypt. Failsafe requires more ambient data from interactions with Vex.

  • Secure Extracted Data for Failsafe in the Breach Executable activity and fight your way through Echoes Battlegrounds.

Step 4

Research Instrument Fabricated: Armor Reputation Booster – Reputation earned through the Seasonal armor perk is increased by 100%.

  • Speak with Failsafe in the H.E.L.M. to review her final specimen analysis report.

Step 5

The Mirror-Encrypted Hydra Tail can be placed in the specimen display at the H.E.L.M.

  • Travel to the H.E.L.M. and place the Mirror-Encrypted Hydra Tail in your specimen collection.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
