While the new and improved Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher is amazing by itself, Destiny 2 included a Catalyst that can push it to the top of your “favorite weapons” list. Every Seasonal Exotic has a pretty easy to obtain Catalyst that boosts its power considerably, and Dragon’s Breath is no exception. The Catalyst for Dragon’s Breath increases its Solar capabilities, making it that much more of a fire-breathing dragon rocket launcher. The Catalyst replenishes your fuel much faster and spawns Firesprites when you eliminate enemies. Really, the Dragon’s Breath Exotic is considerably better with its Catalyst. You should definitely get it.
After you’ve obtained the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher from the Season of the Wish Season Pass, getting the Catalyst will be quite simple. With the weapon in your inventory, head over to the Tower and spawn in at the Courtyard Landing Zone. From there, head over to speak to our favorite weapons vendor, Banshee-44, and collect the quest for the Dragon’s Breath Catalyst. The quest will be called An Old Flame.
You must complete three separate steps of An Old Flame to collect the Catalyst for Dragon’s Breath. Luckily, each of the steps is relatively easy.
- Recreate the Dragon’s Breath catalyst by defeating scorched combatants and bosses.
- Defeat 50x Scorched targets
- Defeat 5x Scorched bosses
- Calibrate data by defeating targets while using Dragon’s Breath
- 100% Calibration
- Return to Banshee-44 to collect the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher Catalyst
In essence, you just need to make sure you have the Dragon’s Breath equipped, while getting as much killing in as possible. Since the Dragon’s Breath created Scorched enemies without any extra perks or catalysts, it’s pretty simple to kill Scorched combatants, as long as you’re actually using the weapon.
How Does the Catalyst Work?
Once you have the Dragon’s Breath Catalyst in Destiny 2, it’s likely that you’ll notice something interesting. Your weapon now spawn Firesprites when you defeat an enemy with it. In addition to that, you will also notice that you now passively replenish fuel, making for less reload time in the long run. While this might not seem like a lot, it truly makes a big difference and makes the Dragon’s Breath Catalyst worth the effort to obtain it.
