Getting the Destiny 2 Heartshadow Exotic sword catalyst can be tricky. It involves going through the famously difficult Duality dungeon and defeating a particular boss. However, if you’ve ever tried Duality, you know how confusing and challenging it can be, making the Heartshadow catalyst a rare find for the average player. Though, once you find it and learn what the Heartshadow catalyst can do, it’s well worth it! Do you have what it takes in Destiny 2 to get the Heartshadow catalyst and see what it does for yourself? Let’s find out.

How To Get the Heartshadow Catalyst in Destiny 2

First, you should head into the Duality dungeon in Destiny 2. You must have the Witch Queen Season Pass or a Dungeon Key to access it. Next, run into the Bazaar in the Tower and speak to Hawthorne to unlock the dungeon. From here, you should access your Destinations, select the Moon, then choose Derelict Leviathan.

Once you’re inside the Destiny 2 Duality dungeon, it’s time to work on getting the Heartshadow catalyst. Head into the first main room of the dungeon. From here, you should be jumping up the platforms on the walls. Watch for a red lantern-like object that you can shoot. This will take you into the Nightmare Realm, where you will search for the boss who can drop the Heartshadow catalyst.

Play through the Shadow Realm portion of the Duality Dungeon until you come across a boss called Nightmare of Ka’nok, Failed Assassin. Defeating this boss will allow you to acquire the Chalice Standard Essense. However, once you pick it up, you’ll have 30 seconds before the Nightmare Realm collapses. During this time, you must head back toward the front of the area in a small alcove toward the top of the room. Here, there will be an area where you can manifest that essence behind another lantern like the one you shot to get into the Nightmare Realm in the first place. Travel ahead to get the Heartshadow catalyst.

Play through the rest of the first Duality dungeon encounter and boss, then make your way through more of the jumping puzzle until you find a small counter with a lever on top of it. Interact with the lever, then head to the opposite side of the room where there is a Cabal boss called Nightmare of Regor, Failed Assassin. Like the previous one, the boss will drop his Standard Essense, which you must collect and take through the second jumping area puzzle that takes you on quite the journey. As you enter the statue puzzle area, activate the Nightmare Realm lantern again to return to the Nightmare.

From here, continue through the dungeon until you make it to the final boss, Nightmare of Hou’dal, Failed Assassin. Defeat him, take the Standard Chalice Essence, and head back through the first realm. Here, you must cross over the room to the final place where you can Manifest Essences. Once you manifest the final Chalice Standard Essense, a chest will spawn with the potential to drop the Destiny 2 Heartshadow catalyst.

What Does the Heartshadow Catalyst Do?

Once you have the Heartshadow Void sword catalyst, it increases the duration of the invisibility that the sword offers. If you weren’t aware, the Heartshadow allows players to become invisible anytime they use a heavy attack with it. Though, before you can get the effects of the Heartshadow catalyst, you must get 400 kills with it.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
