Solstice of Heroes is the seasonal event for the summer in Destiny 2 and will return starting August 11 and ending on September 8. This will be the second time the special event has been included in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals – Solstice of Heroes - Gameplay Trailer

As with all holiday and seasonal events in Destiny 2, players will need to visit Eva Levante, a special NPC who only appears during these events, to kick off the special activities. Once the opening quest is complete players gain access to the zone European Aerial Zone (EAZ). The EAZ functions like the arena spaces on Mars and the Moon where players fight off waves of enemies but with a wider variety of enemy types.

Solstice of Heroes will also introduce yet another currency to Destiny 2 in the form of Solstice Key Fragments. This temporary currency can only be earned and exchanged during Solstice of Heroes and will net players Powerful gear. For those who don’t speak Destiny, Powerful gear is equipment of the second-highest tier of rarity that drops at or just above or below the player character’s level. The level of the gear changes depending on where the character is on the Destiny 2 power curve. The higher the power level, the less likely it will be above your current level.

Finally, Solstice of Heroes will add new cosmetics for purchase to Eververse, the game’s real-money store. The cosmetics will also randomly drop from various in-game activities. The first Solstice of Heroes directly preceded a reworking of the armor system in Destiny 2 last year. Part of the draw for that entry in the event was the ability for players to earn mods for the new system before its official release. This year’s event comes not long after the announcement of a delay for Beyond Light, the next big content update for Destiny 2 which is now scheduled for November 11.

Good luck Guardians. Hopefully, you won’t get too many dupes.
