Destiny 2 The Final Shape Trailer Just Shadow Dropped, & It Reveals Way More Than I Expected

Up in down, down is up, and Cayde’s finally back.

Bungie is typically pretty good about outlining their course of action when it comes to new releases, like The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2. With that in mind, I’d love to know why an entire trailer released for The Final Shape at 8pm EST on a Monday evening with no hints, clues, or anything else to even allude to its drop. Regardless, it surprised me, which I hope will only be the beginning of the pleasant surprises to come with The Final Shape. The trailer details a bit more of the story leading up to the final battle with the Witness, and it kind of blew my mind.

The Final Shape Trailer Reveals More Than Expected

With The Final Shape Trailer finally released, we have much more of an idea of what the expansion will look like in Destiny 2 when it releases on June 4th, 2024. It is truly a case of “Everything is not what it seems.”

First of all, let’s get right down to some of the most important things laid out for us in the new trailer. Cayde-6 definitely has a more serious note to his message. You thought the ground was actually on the ground? Hah. Not anymore. Prismatic might just have been the fuel to the fire that was the creation of the Pale Heart. The Relic, Destiny vibes, extra strong enemies, and hands–lots of hands.

Let’s elaborate on some of these things just a bit. We all know that Cayde-6 is returning, and he’ll actually be our guide for the duration of The Final Shape, but things aren’t quite the same. There’s a good chance that he’ll be a new vendor for us to interact with during the new expansion, and there will be some new Cayde-created weapons carrying the Ace of Spade symbols that he once used in the creation of his own Exotic hand cannon.

In addition to the exciting return of Cayde-6, we’ll start to see some differences in the environment within the Pale Heart of the Traveler. Some changes, I might add, that will be a bit confusing as we experience some of the biggest changes in the physics that we’re used to. The trailer for The Final Shape shows a scene where you’re actually standing upside-down on the ceiling as if it’s the floor, and the platforming done that greatly defies the entire idea of gravity.

Though, all that aside, we get a real look at Prismatic as the world comes into view with purple glistening at its edges while it materializes. Prismatic might play a much bigger part in The Final Shape than we might realize. The source of it sits at the roots of a massive tree, giving hope, light, and life. We also get to see some gameplay that involves The Relic from Vault of Glass being used in a more open setting before exposing a severely armored-looking Ogre and some shots of the new Dread faction.

Everywhere you look in the new Final Shape trailer for Destiny 2, there’s something new and interesting to focus on and form thoughts about. I can honestly say that this trailer was a pleasant surprise and it’s got me waiting in loads of anticipation for the release of The Final Shape.

She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
