Are you ready for some football? Well, in America, who isn’t! Baseball can claim to be the national pastime, but that title has clearly belonged to the NFL for years. In Washington, D.C., the Commanders played host to the Detroit Lions, whose star receiver decided to celebrate a touchdown by pointing at President Trump, then pulling off his signature dance move. Although it’s say whether it’s directly related or not, he was sucker punched by a rival player shortly after the celebration went down.
In a video shared on Reddit, near the end of the first quarter, Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon St. Brown scored a touchdown. For his celebration, he was seen looking up at the press boxes un til he found President Trump. He then pointed at him and immediately pulled off Trump’s signature shake. He was, of course, booed well, because Trump isn’t very popular in Washington, DC, but also, nobody likes getting shimmied on by a visiting player, especially Trump’s dance of all.
Fast forward a few minutes, and after another touchdown by the Lions, a Commanders player named Daron Payne approached Amon St. Brown and socked him right in the face. Now, you might be asking, is there any sense in punching a player wearing a helmet? Well, it only makes sense if that person really has a vendetta that we will likely never figure out. Outside of some guesswork and assumptions, some folks online are claiming that the Trump dance is why Daron punched him, as if he didn’t like the support given to Trump.
“Is he holding an Epstein file?”
“Dude spending millions of taxpayer $$ while people go without checks or stamps during a shutdown to go to a football game expecting a cheering crowds lol”
“100% OP didn’t watch the game lmfao”
“the amount of NFL players who are Republicans”
“The dance isn’t mocking him seems like a reasonable impersonation”
Others claim it was due to the amount of trash talk on the field, combined with the Commander’s frustrating season boiling over. Trump was also maligned during the game, with the crowd massively booing him when the cameras showcased him in the press box during the game in a deafening protest. Here is what some folks had to say about the punch and the boos.
