There were many surprises during The Game Awards, yet one of the games that stole the spotlight more than once has to be Diablo 4. In case you missed the announcement, nay, announcements, Diablo 4 shadowdropped three surprises: a new season, two new classes, with one being playable right now, and the amazing trailer for its Lord of Hatred expansion, along with a release date. So, if you were looking for an excuse to return to Sanctuary, it might be the perfect time to do so right now.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Launches on April 28, 2026
Let’s go over the many announcements for Diablo 4, with the main one being the reveal of Lord of Hatred, the game’s next expansion. For this hellish journey, players will face Mephisto in the ancient region of Skovos. However, they will bring new weapons to this fight, or rather, classes. The trailer clearly showcased the Paladin as the first playable class, which you can take out for some demon-slaying right now if you pre-order Lord of Hatred. There is also a second class coming, but we don’t know what it will be.
The great thing about the expansion, especially for those who’ve yet to experience the game, is that Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred includes Vessel of Hatred, the game’s first expansion with the Spiritborn class. So, if you’re a new player, this is the perfect time to jump into the action, get the hang of the new class, and prepare before facing the big bad Mephisto.
Classes and new enemies aren’t the only things coming to the expansion, as Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is also aiming to overhaul the endgame by introducing War Plans, which will allow players to craft their own endgame progression path. And if you prefer something more lighthearted, fishing is coming to Sanctuary, so that’s something to look forward to as well.
In any case, it is great to see so many things coming to Diablo 4, and all of them being highly requested by fans of this ARPG. Oh yes, and the new season also shadowdropped tonight, but we’re preparing a different article to guide you into that hellish journey.
