Season of Blood is the second season for Blizzard’s newest installment to the Diablo franchise, Diablo IV. In this season, new enemies and drops are being introduced in the theme of vampires, blood skeletons, Twitch drops, and more. There are a wide variety of quality-of-life changes that are also being introduced as part of this season, including the first time that a Diablo game will be available to play on Valve’s Steam platform, making it even more exciting to know exactly when Season of Blood starts.

You can start playing Season of Blood right now, on October 17. To actually begin, you can simply skip the campaign after completing the Missing Pieces quest. Doing so will allow you to dive directly into the new content so that you don’t have to wait and do anything beforehand. This quest is part of the prologue, so you really aren’t missing anything as a result and can start whenever you feel like it.

What’s New In Season Of Blood?

Season of Blood offers several new additions to the gameplay of Diablo IV as a whole. One of the newest changes is the road to Level 100 being as much as 40% faster than it was before. There will also be more meaningful content to play through while you’re progressing beyond Level 50, as it was incredibly tedious to get through everything before.

To compliment this, all of the experience that you’ll gain from killing monsters starting at Level 50 and above will now be increased. Experience bonuses are also now larger when using the World Tier bonus. The Endgame is also being enhanced to further challenge players, offering unique drops. Starting in World Tier II, Uber difficulty becomes available and will require completely different conditions than before in order to engage in them.

You’ll also be able to earn different cosmetics for both yourself and your mount after defeating these bosses. For example, you can earn the Smoldering Brimstone Mount by defeating Echo of Duriel. It’s also important to note that you’ll need to create a brand new Seasonal Character in order to play, so this also poses as a fresh start for players who can’t delve into hell with their normal character by their side.
