Diablo 4’s Mid-Season Patch Buffs All the Classes to Spiritborn Levels, Here’s Why

It’s no secret that the Spiritborn in Diablo 4‘s Vessel of Hatred expansion is busted and can basically trivialize the whole game. So the logical expectation among the players is for the Spiritborn to get nerfed even as early as mid-season. Diablo 4‘s developer, however, has a better and more charitable solution for the Spiritborn during mid-season: pull up the weaker and struggling classes so they can keep up

So now, instead of slamming down the Spiritborn to pre-Vessel of Hatred levels, the Barbarian, Rogue, Necromancer, Sorcerer, and Druid are getting buffed to Spiritborn levels. The developer revealed this in its latest Campfire Chat dev-stream for Season 6.

Some of the buffs for certain classes are rather big. For example, the Necromancer is getting nearly double damage numbers for some of their abilities. Barbarians and Rogues get several buffs to their Core Skills. Fire Sorcerers are now more viable than ever, and Druids also get massive key passive buffs.

The balance changes are not in effect yet, though you can expect them soon. Here’s the Campfire Chat stream, you can skip to the 45-minute mark for balance changes.

Even the Spiritborn gets a small buff. This balance change is not exactly permanent. It’s made as a response to encourage players to try out other classes apart from the Spiritborn. Otherwise, other classes will become useless for the remainder of Season 6 which won’t end until January 2025.

Nerfs Will Still Happen, However

The caveat? Well, come Season 7 (sometime around January 2025), the developer will revisit these balance changes and will look at Spiritborn nerfs, particularly for the unintended interactions and bug exploits.

So, there will be a nerf depending on how things go. However, you still get to enjoy the Spiritborn’s broken and overpowered state for several more weeks. Most players, myself included, expected the Spiritborn bug-stomping as early as mid-season. But that’s not the case.

For now, enjoy your Spiritborn dealing hundreds of trillions of damage — something other classes can only dream of. But depending on the balance changes and full patch notes, which will be revealed on November 15, the other classes might be able to keep up.
