This Diablo 4 guide is going to explain everything you need to know about the Paragon Board system. In case you have not unlocked it yet, this is one of the post-game progression systems that are available in the game. Utilizing the Paragon Board will let you min-max your Class build and boosts their strength even further. That means it is essential to know how it works in order to tackle all World Tier 4 or Torment difficulty content such as the Echo of Hatred.
Diablo 4: How Does Paragon Board Work
Once you reach the normal level cap, Level 50, your Diablo 4 Paragon Board journey begins. Access the Paragon Board by opening the Skill Tree menu and then selecting the Paragon tab. Each Class has unique Paragon Boards, ensuring a tailored experience for each Class. For example, Barbarians will have more Strength buffs while Sorcerers can increase their Intelligence more.
This post-game progression system somewhat resembles Diablo 3‘s Paragon system, allowing gradual power increase for your build. Unlike in Diablo 3 though, the Paragon Board in Diablo 4 has a cap. You can only get up to 225 Paragon Points, which are acquired from:
- Past Level 50, every time you accumulate XP you’ll acquire Paragon Points as well; one Paragon Point per 25% of a level.
- Fulfill all Renowns in all five regions to get four Paragon Points each.
- Collect Altars of Lilith scattered all over the game’s map.
Diablo 4: What are Paragon Points and Nodes on the Board?
The Points are used to activate Paragon Nodes on the Board. Costs one Point each, there are five different types of Nodes that fill up the Paragon Board’s grid. See the list below.
Paragon Board Node | Description |
Normal Node | A Node that connects all Nodes. Grants +5 bonus to an Attribute. |
Magic Node | Surrounds a Rare Node. Gives a bigger Attribute or damage, defense, or utility bonus. |
Rare Node | Grants two Attribute, damage, defense, or utility bonuses. Have an unlock prerequisite. |
Legendary Node | Gives a unique bonus for a specific type of build. |
Glyph Socket Node | Lets you put Glyph inside it. |
Board Attachment Gate | Grants +5 bonus to all Attributes. Connects one Paragon Board with another. |
As mentioned before, each Class has eight unique Paragon Boards. All of them dictate what kind of playstyle you should use. As an example, Rogue has the Cheap Shot Board for dealing more damage against crowd-controlled enemies. While the Eldritch Bounty Board is more fitting for an imbuement-focused playstyle.
Once you have reached a Board Attachment Gate, you can unlock other Paragon Boards and gain more buffs from them. Press the Preview button to see the layout and what buffs you can gain from the Board’s grid. You can also rotate the Board for path optimization. When you are ready to unlock the new Board, press the Attach Board.
Paragon Glyphs
Last but not least are the Glyphs. These are socket items that can augment the passive boosts you gain from the Paragon Nodes. You should be able to obtain Glyphs as loot and then upgrade them at the end of Nightmare Dungeons. Just like other items, the higher the World Tier or difficulty you’re on, the better Glyphs you can acquire. The Glyphs can also be unequipped and reused at other sockets for free.
Before we end this Diablo 4 Paragon Board guide though, there are two materials that might help you on this min-maxing quest. First, you can head over to D4planner.io in order to start theory-crafting Paragon Boards before finalizing your build. Second, YouTuber DM: Diablo Immortal has a pretty good 11-minute-long explanation about the system, so check it out below as well.
