Take note Nerds and avid collectors, as Diamond Select Toys has just revealed a bevy of new toys now available in local retailers. Joining the long list of products already created by the well-known toy company are new entries from classic entertainment icons like Back to the Future, Watchman, Predator, Forbidden Plant, and Ghostbusters.
BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II – THE DELOREAN ($59.99)
The first thing that pops into fans mind at the mention of Back to the Future, aside from maybe Hoverboards and the Sports Almanac, is the illustrious time traveling car known as the Delorian. The toy feature new additions show in the second installment in the franchise, including hover wheels, the iconic Mr. Fusion fuel device, and opening gull wing doors. The Vehicle measure in at approximately 14 inches long, with time-travel lights and sounds able to be triggered at the push of a button.
FORBIDDEN PLANET – ROBBY THE ROBOT & CREWMAN ($9.99)
Diamond Select has created toys for one of the most iconic and influential Science Fiction films of all time, Forbidden Planet. The film is best known for its technologically advanced robot, Robby the Robot, who hails from the distant world of Altair IV. Now you too can own this iconic figure, exactly how he appeared in the cult classic film. The 2-inch mini figure of Robby also comes with a crewman from the spaceship C-57D. Robby features articulated arms and legs, while the crewman features 14 points of articulation and a laser pistol.
GHOSTBUSTERS – LIBRARY GHOST, TAXI DRIVER, AND TERROR DOG ($24.99 Each)
The Ghostbusters franchise has been a mainstay for Diamond Select, as the latest line of toys marks the fifth installment of action figures in their series from the horror comedy classic. Series 5 calls on collectors to pick up three different well-known monsters from the original 1984 movie: the Library Ghost, the Taxi Driver Zombie, and a Terror Dog. Each figure measures out to 7 inches in scale and features up to 16 points of articulation, as well as character-specific accessories. The Liberty Ghost comes with a stack of books, Taxi Driver includes his steering wheel, and Terror Dog has an interchangeable set of horns. Each figure also comes with a piece of the rooftop diorama and completes the set.
PREDATOR – CLOAKED PREDATOR, DETECTIVE LAMBERT, PREDATOR HOUND, AND ISABELLE ($9.99 Each)
With The Predator coming out in the next couple of years, what better time to remember everyone’s favorite alien action packed movie franchise than with limited addition figurines. Hunt Isabelle and Detective Lambert with the Predator Hound and unique variations of the Predator. Rare, one-per-case variants will include a 2-pack with Anna and the Cloaked Unmasked Predator! Each two-pack contains at least one figure that isn’t available elsewhere! Each figure will contain at least 14 points of articulation, removable accessories and fully interchangeable parts. All packaged on a full-color blister card.
WATCHMEN – DR. MANHATTAN, NIGHT OWL, RORSCHACH, AND THE COMEDIAN ($24.99)
Last but not least is Zach Snyder’s favorite comic book heroes and anti-heroes from Watchmen. Making up the new round of toys is Dr. Manhattan, Nite Owl, Rorschach and The Comedian! The new box set will feature the four fan favorites in their trademark outfits, and sorry ladies no Dr. Manhatan junk, but he does glow in the dark. Each also figurine also will feature 14 points of articulation, as well as interchangeable parts and accessories, including alternate unmasked heads.
