Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign is being marred by a controversy involving streamer Kai Cenat. The vice president, since taking over from Joe Biden as the presidential candidate for the Democratic party, has targeted the Gen-Z audience as her core voter demography. Hence, it came as no surprise when Cenat’s name came up in the conversation. He is, after all, one of the most followed and influential Twitch streamers. However, what was supposed to be possibly a fun political collaboration turned into a huge drama involving the Secret Service.
It all began on August 5 when Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, appeared on gamer Adin Ross’ online stream. The pair had fun dumping on Harris and Biden, with the streamer even gifting Trump a Tesla Cybertruck. With the pressure on, younger democrats and members of the African-American community called on Cenat to host Madam Vice President on his Twitch stream. “Now Kamala Harris has no choice but to do a stream with Kai Cenat,” tweeted one fan. Another comment read, “Kamala better get Kai on the phone now, and she better walk out strolling to wipe me down immediately.“
Kai Cenat Throws Tantrum About Kamala Harris Stream
Unfortunately, fans’ excitement about a possible stream with Harris wasn’t well received by the 22-year-old. Cenat angrily went Live the next day, ranting about the Secret Service calling him five times while slamming his desk.
“I don’t know nothing about politics. What the f**k am I supposed to talk about on stream about politics?
Cenat lamented that a woman from his past contacted him and asked that he join the political campaign. The online personality noted that he has never had any political discussion on his platform, so he doesn’t understand why he was chosen. Cenat made it clear that politics is not at all his niche.
Ooops…Kamala Harris Campaign Denies Kai Cenat’s Claims
Following Cenat’s online outrage, a source close to the VP’s campaign team clarified the facts. Talking to TMZ, the insider alleged that no one from Harris’ team reached out to the streamer. In fact, no conversation has been had about hosting the politician. The informant noted that it is possible that the Secret Service indeed contacted Cenat.
The streamer’s team has reportedly been in contact with a third-party organization with informal ties to the DNC’s convention team. It is unclear what role Cenat would play, but the source noted that dialogue for the DNC convention began long before Biden dropped out of the race. The conversation has nothing to do with Harris. Fans have since reacted to the new update. “Now why is Kai Cenat out here lying about Kamala Harris trying to be on his stream when she ain’t? I am so glad her team cleared that up,” wrote one fan.
