Fans of the Met Gala will know that there are some outrageous looks to emerge from the event. The outfits are also incredibly creative, and this year, the theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and attendees must choose their outfits with the inspiration of “The Garden of Time.” The theme gave way to some really great looks, but none stood out more than Tyla’s outfit which was made of sand. Uncomfortable, you ask? Probably! Completely impractical? Definitely! But the singer-songwriter didn’t seem to mind. She slayed!
Fans React To Tyla’s Sand Dress At The Met Gala 2024
For the prestigious event, Tyla was dressed by Balmain. She looked amazing, even if she could not walk up the stairs (she had to be carried, so definitely not the most practical choice). The ART singer discussed her look in an interview with Vogue (via People), saying, she “wanted something out of the box this year.” She added, “I just love the outfit and how everything turned out.”
Vogue posted a short clip of Tyla posing for photos at the event. The caption on the post reads, “@tyla is trading water for sand at the 2024 #MetGala. For her inaugural Met, the singer turned to @balmain to help her bring her fantastical look to life.” Unsurprisingly, fans have a lot to say and some of the comments are hilarious. “Is there a shot of her sitting down?” one fan asked. “Having to be lifted up the stairs … now that’s iconic,” another shared. “Supposed to be garden not beach,” a comment reads.
Others thought this look was everything. “So simple and so dramatic at the same time, very on topic without being too obvious and based on literature,” a comment reads. Another fan also praised the singer, writing, “The theme is “The Garden of Time” – it’s perfect!”
