To add fuel to the fire though, Playtonic even put jumping eyeballs, curiously made to stand on top of the basic Nintendo logo. Below we have compared the Nintendo logo used in the original Yooka-Laylee Switch port announcement and the Yooka-Replaylee trailer.
For the uninitiated, Yooka-Replaylee is the remake of a classic-styled 3D collect-a-thon platformer developed by Playtonic Games. It features a chameleon and bat duo as the protagonist, reminiscent of the developer’s earlier work on Banjo-Kazooie. Yooka-Replaylee has become a favorite among platforming fans because of its charming visual and nostalgic gameplay.
If this is indeed a hint, Yooka-Replaylee could end up being one of the first games announced for the Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, rumors are pointing to November-December 2024 or early 2025 for an official Switch 2 reveal. We might not have to wait much longer to hear the announcement, potentially before The Games Awards or in an upcoming Nintendo Direct.
