While things have been pretty clear about the “who’s the bad guy” narrative between Russia and Ukraine, whether Israel is in the right against Gaza is still strongly controversial. That said, Prince Harry didn’t run into any political issues when he went to Ukraine last year, but his recent trip to Jordan has set off plenty of red flags. Many people are already calling out the Prince for his hypocrisy in supporting Gazans when he allegedly appeared more on Israel’s side initially. Now, the Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister herself has publicly shamed Harry, accusing him of spreading “false narratives” to the press about Gazans.
Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel retweeted a post by Oli London that included her exclusive message to Prince Harry. In short, she calls out the wayward royal for falsely claiming that “the aid corridors need to be opened. They’re currently not,” regarding support for Gazans. The Israeli politician criticizes Harry for being “detached” from reality, saying how “deeply disappointing” it is “to see influential figures amplify claims without verifying them.” She challenges the Prince by telling him to come see how things are for himself.
Things between Israel and Gaza have already been bad enough, but many feel as though Prince Harry, no small thanks to his global publicity, is making things even worse. “Harry has single handely cause foreign diplomatic tensions,” remarks a commenter on X. “And in a region of extremely volatile upheaval.” She continues, pointing out how the Prince, by his very name, has now brought the Royal Family into the political mess between the warring nations. It’s a bit of a stretch, but the user also believes Harry and Meghan are doing this to ‘clear their name’ as things go downhill for Andrew back in the UK.
Simply put, the internet and politicians now agree that this PR trip to Jordan was a big mistake for Prince Harry. As one Redditor put it, “This visit is a diplomatic catastrophe.” Going into Jordan to show support for the Gazans was seemingly an awful decision for positive PR, as he would end up in a lose-lose situation from both sides. Online commenters are saying this might be the last straw for King Charles to do something about his son running about causing a ruckus, but like Andrew, only time will tell until any action is finally carried out.
In the meantime, Harry might continue to drag the Royal Family’s name through the mud if he continues engaging in political commentary, especially between Israel and Gaza.
