HBO Max and Discovery+ will remain separate streaming services. Instead Warner Bros Discovery will make Discovery+ a lower-tier streaming option and will make HBO Max a combined service. The latter will become a super service that will have Discovery+ content available. Warner Bros Discovery previously said that there would be one service with combined content on one service, but they have since reneged on that plan. Discovery+ will be an option for subscribers that don’t want any of the scripted entertainment content and they won’t have to pay as much. The integration has already started with content from different subsidiaries being divided up between the different streaming services. Unfortunately, popular series like Raised by Wolves and Westworld have been taken off HBO Max entirely. You’ll be able to find the discarded series on Tubi later on. At least subscribers have most of their shows still on HBO Max.
The Combined Service is Unnecessary But Will Be Happening Nonetheless
The Warner Bros Discovery streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+ have vastly different content. If you’re into cooking shows, true crime, or home improvement then Discovery+ is a great option for streaming. Now that CNN+ was scrapped, that content will also be on Discovery+. HBO Max has documentaries that explore different subjects, series, limited series, and movies of different genres. The brands are very different but HBO Max subscribers will have access to all the content soon. The combined service will certainly give subscribers more options, but Warner Bros Discovery will have to wait and see if this helps retain customers. Warner Bros Discovery has shuffled around so much content to make this super service happen. Just because it will have more media available, the price changes and endless options could be too much.
The combined will be launched this spring under a whole new name.
