In our current episode of weird food that people allegedly found in the deep, dark crevices of Walmart aisles, we now have Quaker Oats cookies that apparently got turned into an otherworldly horror. One woman from Mississippi has documented this incident where, after opening the Quaker Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, she inevitably opened a can of worms– quite literally.
The rather horrific Oatmeal switch-up happened to TikTok user diamondpatton08, aka Mississippi Cash Flow, in early January 2026. The TikTok user claimed to have bought the can of Quaker Oats cookies along with a box of groceries from her local Walmart. But when she opened it, it was full of worms, and the cookies had since been reduced into a webbed substance resembling something alien and otherworldly, but no doubt toxic and poisonous.
In the video, you can even see them squeamishly reacting to the sight of the oddly decomposed cookies. The TikTok user even poured bleach into the cylindrical box with a rather interesting reaction, “It’s boiling!” she exclaimed after pouring the bleach. “This is where you get your bugs from the grocery store. Anybody needs some worms?” mocks the TikTok user.
It’s not clear when that particular can of oatmeal cookies was made, but in one of the comment sections asking how old the cookies were, the TikTok user replies with an image of the lid saying “Best Before Mar 19 27 [March 19, 2027],” meaning they technically should have had more than a year to consume the said oatmeal cookies in its edible state. Of course, they threw it away after hopefully killing the worms– some of which might have escaped through their sink.
People online are comparing the wormy oats to icky Stranger Things substances
While the TikTok user didn’t really touch further upon exactly what kind of worms were present in her oatmeal cookie can, some have guessed that they’re “Indian meal moth caterpillars,” though it’s not apparent how they got into the packaging. Some were blaming Walmart while others insisted it’s a Quaker issue, though neither company seems to have commented on the matter or reached out to the TikTok user.
Meanwhile, other commenters still couldn’t move on from the rather weird material that the supposedly “sealed” oatmeal cookies turned into. “Made my skin crawl so bad 🥴,” says a TikTok commenter, while another likened it to the interdimensional organic matter from a certain sci-fi show, which just ended recently, “The upside down Oatmeal , From Quaker Oats! Brought to you by Stranger THANGS!”
Apparently, the web was indeed actual webbing made by the larvae, where they could hopefully cocoon into before turning into adult moths. While it appears the TikTok user and her family didn’t consume any of the oatmeal cookies in the video, some have advised them to pursue legal action, “start these lawsuits,” according to a commenter.
