Sad news arrives this week, as it’s been revealed that actor Cameron Boyce has passed away.
Known for playing Luke Ross in the Disney sitcom Jessie, as well as movies The Descendants and Grown Ups, the actor died prematurely of a sleep seizure. According to his family, this was due to an “ongoing medical condition”.
The family of Cameron Boyce released a heartbreaking statement to Variety:
It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.
And yet, his passing has caused actors and filmmakers in the film industry to reminisce about Cameron Boyce. The consensus around his character is that he was a kind and loving young man. The director of The Descendants, Kenny Ortega, reflected that “Cameron brought Love, Laughter and Compassion with him everyday I was in his presence. His talent, immeasurable. His kindness and generosity, overflowing”.
Twitter was also rife with condolences and heartbreak over the death of Cameron Boyce. TV and movie actress Jamie Chung regretted that Cameron Boyce was “Gone too soon“:

Meanwhile, the singer Princeton Perez shared his experiences meeting with Cameron Boyce at the Disney Music Awards:

Meanwhile, Adam Sandler, who played the father of Boyce’s character in the Grown Ups movies, penned a heartfelt tribute. He described Boyce as “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around” while giving his condolences to the actor’s family.
