The popular Disney Plus streaming service is boosting its aspect ratio for a select number of Marvel titles. Starting November 12, Disney Plus users will have complete access to IMAX Enhanced, an experience that brings high-resolution Marvel cinematic magic to the comfort of your home.
IMAX Enhanced Comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
IMAX is an incredible filming system that introduces movies to bigger heights with huge formats, ultra-resolution quality, and stadium-like seating. The system specializes in a technique to utilize a unique format that gives it a grand presentation. To put it simply, an IMAX camera can capture film up to three times the standard size in movies. With IMAX Enhanced, the ultimate movie experience can finally arrive at the smaller screens at home.
An official trailer for Disney Plus IMAX Enhanced delivers a short presentation on what to expect. Most notably, the biggest change is the expanded aspect ratio that shifts from widescreen to fullscreen. This system will only work for a number of Marvel films, specifically those from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can find the complete list below. Keep in mind that this system is relatively new for Disney Plus, so it’s possible that we’ll see more films equipped with IMAX Enhanced fairly soon:
