Hakuna Matata everyone! Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we have some new photos from Jon Favreau’s The Lion King. The live-action remake of the original 1994 animated cartoon has been the talk among Disney fans – along with Aladdin remake. The film has a star-studded cast including Seth Rogen, Donald Glover, Beyonce, and (let’s not forget) the legend himself James Earl Jones reprising the role of Mufasa.
This was allowed to be viewed on their website and “Summer Movie Preview” magazine which The Lion King was on the front page. The images below show crystal clear images of Simba laying next to Pumbaa and Timon. Scar surrounded by his hyenas. Rafiki being bold, proud, and wise. Simba, Nala, and Zazu being rebellious. Mufasa overseeing his land with cub Simba. Finally, The Pride Rock with the view of all creatures commemorating the birth of a new king.
Disney’s The Lion King is a remake but, contrary to popular belief, it won’t be a shot-for-shot remake of the original 1994 film. Sean Bailey, who is the Film Production Chief for The Lion King, confirmed this to The Hollywood Reporter back in December.
“The Lion King is a revered and beloved movie, so you’d better revere and love those parts that the audience wants. But there are things in the movie that are going to be new,”
The Lion King is set to hit theaters on July 9th, 2019.
