Disney World Hair Inspection Baffles Family on Florida Vacation, ‘Hopefully No Parent Takes Offense to This’

That’s certainly a creative way

Disney World in Florida is packed with fun things to do. The odds of you getting bored are zero. One of the sights your young children may enjoy is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. For young children and teens, it’s an opportunity to get a royal makeover. Sounds awesome! However, one mother, who was wanting to give her child a particularly magical day, wasn’t expecting the experience to come with a free check-up. For what? Well, head lice.

A now-viral TikTok video was posted by @lovethelarkins with the caption, “I didn’t even realize what they were doing until I rewatched the video. Literally making every moment magical even while checking for lice at bippity boppity boutique.” In the video, you can see a staff member decked out in her best fairy Godmother gear standing with the mom’s daughter in front of a big, magical mirror. She parts the girl’s hair and checks for signs of lice before the girl enters the boutique with other children. The employee chats with the little girl about Rapunzel, making the experience seem incredibly casual instead of worrisome.

Though the mother was surprised this subtle service was given to every child who entered, she was pleased they cared to do it. Other commenters agreed with her sentiment. One person commented, “That’s a sweet and creative way to disguise it,” knowing that it can be stressful for a child to know that they are going through a lice check.

Another stated, “Hopefully no parent takes offense to this because it’s not only protecting other children, it’s protecting your child from getting it, too.” And apparently, it’s something you’re taught when you’re training as a hair stylist. One commenter stated, “This is why hairstylist play w your hair when ur explaining what you want btw! they taught us that in school”. I never noticed that before and it totally makes sense!

Another commenter suggested that it goes further than just a simple lice check. “It’s not just checking for lice – it’s also checking for any rashes, skin issues, cuts/broken skin. Anything that could react to whatever they’re putting on ur head. It’s for their safety and yours!”

So, think of it like treatment at any salon you may visit. With millions of children getting lice every year in the United States, a simple search in your hair may not be such a bad idea. Disney has found a creative way to make even the simplest things exciting for children once again.
