Given the civil unrest of the U.S., some Americans are making life-changing decisions just to get away (and I don’t blame them). For example, one Colorado mother is facing a huge battle as she comes to terms with the fact that life in America isn’t for her and her family anymore. She talks of the hoops she has to go through (like passports and even taxes). Considering your options, families can always start fresh in another country.
TikToker Just Say Duck reveals she’s about 200 days from leaving America permanently. Duck and her son are heading off to Spain, which she never thought she’d be saying in this lifetime. Distraught, she explains that she’s been putting in the work, researching the logistics of living in Spain. She adds she’s feeling “angry” about it because “I shouldn’t have to.”
According to Duck, she’s unhappy with the state of the U.S. She’s upset that her son’s school, like so many others in America, isn’t giving him the care he needs. Duck isn’t happy with how the U.S. treats immigrants—the numerous ICE agents, anyone—nor is she pleased with the Trump Administration. So many Americans are just tired of the outright hatred and racism they see on a day-to-day basis.
Duck has other children, and she said they’re attending American colleges. In moving to Spain, she hopes her other children will “have a place where they can make a soft landing if they need to get out.”
As she goes on to say, her move to Spain is a calculated move she spent a lot of time on. It’s a way for Duck and her family to “literally escape fascism,” and has become an “inhospitable place.”
But there’s also a sadness to Duck’s decision. She admits, “I shouldn’t have to walk away from everything I know.” Unfortunately, the Trump Administration pushed so many families into wanting to leave for their own safety.
“I’m only alive because an ancestor fled Germany in the 1930s. Do what you need to do,” one person shared.
“I left in May. You’ve got to put your mental health first. I knew I couldn’t handle a 2nd admission. I read Project 2025. I saw the writing on the wall and fled. It is better when you’re out,” another admitted. That’s the worst part—it sucks uprooting yourself, but it seems to pay off for others.
