For some, the holidays are a time for truly being grateful for what they have and for helping those around them in need. However, even I think that there’s a line when it comes to expectations of something like, say, a town parade. Well, one Virginia woman’s viral video showed just how little her town cared for the holidays when they put up a Christmas parade that was anything but festive. In fact, I’m not really sure why they even let some of those character actors be seen the way they were.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @lalnas.locs, a Virginia woman who doesn’t post often, but when she does, typically posts about her personal life. This video was a little bit different, as it involved a parade that her Virginia town was hosting for Christmas. However, when she arrived, jolly isn’t at all what I would describe it.
You can see that there are costumed characters walking through the street, though the quality of the outfits is outrageous. Sure, you can tell that it’s Elsa from Frozen out there, but why is she wearing New Balances and jeans? In fact, plenty of commenters noticed this, with one of the top comments being, “Not Elsa with a high top fade 💀🥴😭😭😂.”
I think the only appropriate character was Garfield, who can be seen holding onto his large, round belly and waving to the crowd of what looks to be about ten people. In fact, I think that two people are having some sort of argument in the background, not really paying attention to what’s going on.
Virginia Christmas Parade is Anything But Jolly
Fortunately, it looks like the few children that can be seen in the audience were having a good time. They can be seen pointing, waving, and running toward their favorite characters. However, it’s really hard to look past the state of the whole parade, with only a single truck carrying a few other characters, and no music to boot. It must have been an eerily quiet ride.
Another popular character in the comments was Bluey, from the insanely popular New Zealand children’s show, Bluey. The dog character’s tail is so high up on its back that it’s a cause for concern, with two replies saying, “why is bluey’s tail on her BACK😒,” and “So we just not gonna talk about Bluey tail on her back???“
Regardless, it looks like everyone in the parade was a volunteer of some kind, and the event itself was likely free. But I wouldn’t fault anyone for being disappointed if they were looking forward to it.
