Do NPCs Respawn in Sons of the Forest?

Even though enemies respawn in Sons of the Forest, the situation with NPCs differs. The game features companions as NPCs, but companions don’t respawn like enemies.

Sons of the Forest features a permadeath mechanic. If a companion gets killed, you will never be able to see him or her in the game again. Moreover, your companion won’t appear even in multiplayer mode, where you can interact with friends and have fun together. But in multiplayer, you will be able to interact with the companions of other players.

But if you accidentally killed a companion, there is good news for you. You can open the main game’s menu and try to load your previous save. It will put you back in progress but allow you to continue playing the game with a companion if you accidentally kill him or her.

That’s it with the respawn of NPCs and enemies in Sons of the Forest. Even though the game features permadeath, it refers only to companions. Enemies will respawn in Sons of the Forest.

As of 2023, Sons of the Forest is available only on PC.
