Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has officially signed on to tackled another classic hero. The wrestler turned actor will officially play Doc Savage in the upcoming movie adaptation.
The Rock took to Instagram to share the news. The film will be directed by Shane Black, of Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang fame. No date was given due to the busy schedules of both Johnson and Black. Black will turn to the project after he wraps up a new Predator film for Fox, while Johnson will have to find time in his jam-packed schedule.
Dog Savage is one of the first comic book superheroes – predating even Superman. He’s a man of action, engaging in many perilous adventures that are often bizarre, weird. He’s been everywhere, from comics to books, to radio shows.
Very few details are known about the project but expect an action movie with an intricate plot and maybe even a little humor. Doc Savage will add to Dwayne Johnsons string of reboots of classic franchises. He recently wrapped shooting on the new Baywatch movie, and just announced that he will reimagine the classic Jumanji. He is also set to play Black Adam in DC’s Shazam adaptation.
