Marvel’s Phase 3 is well underway as the first trailer for Doctor Strange was unleashed on the internet last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Doctor Strange will star Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular sorcerer and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, and Mads Mikkelsen in supporting roles.
The film follows the journey of Doctor Stephen Strange after a terrible car accident has shattered his hands and left him unable to perform surgery. He then encounters the Ancient One (Swinton), who teaches him to harness the power of sorcery.
The trailer shows off Strange’s origins and the stunning, mind-bending visuals that warp and shift reality. Cumberbatch was not shown in his Doctor Strange costume, but teaser images have shown off the garb that appears to be ripped straight out of the comics.
The film will be unlike any other Marvel movie to date. It is said to feel less like a superhero movie and more like a fantasy story; complete with a terrifying evil and plenty of magic.
