It was recently revealed that this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special would see the return of fan-favorite Captain Jack, as played brilliantly by John Barrowman. Now, mere days after that announcement, the BBC has released a trailer for the special that you can see below.
Joining Captain Jack for the special are Killing Eve’s Dame Harriet Walter and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett who appeared in The Trial Of Christine Keeler. Chris North will also return as Jack Robertson who was last seen in the 2018 episode of Doctor Who, entitled Arachnids.
You may have also noticed from the trailer (because I know you skipped ahead) that classic Doctor Who Daleks have received a bit of a makeover, but fear not as the 2020 model won’t be replacing the version we all know and love. They may have a sleek new model this time around, but you can be safe in the knowledge that they will be just as deadly as ever.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall also said this about the upcoming Doctor Who special:
“We’ve crammed this years Doctor Who festive special with an explosion of extraordinary acting talent. Where else would you get British acting royalty, a globally renowned US screen star, an (inter)national treasure of stage and screen and one of Britain’s hottest young actors – just in the guest cast!
Put those together with Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Madip Gill and Tosin Cole (and Daleks! Did I mention Daleks!) – and you get a cast to be exterminated for. And things will explode. Promise.”
As if we needed any more reason to be excited. I’ll be sure to let you know my thoughts on the Doctor Who Christmas Special as soon as I can. In the meantime, let me know in the comments how excited by this festive special you all are.
Doctor Who Revolution Of The Daleks will air on the BBC UK on New Years Day.
