A video clip shared on X shows former West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin saying he would “absolutely not” back Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for president in 2028 and adding that he does not want her as the leader of the country. Online users have reacted to the remarks with comments questioning whether Manchin’s views still carry weight.

The video shows former West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin appearing in an interview on Fox News’ One Nation with Brian Kilmeade. When asked if he could back Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for president, Manchin replies, “Oh, no, absolutely not.” He continues, “I mean, she has a place, I guess. Within a constituency where she comes from, in one part, a little part of New York. If that’s what they choose, then fine. I respect that. They can have what they want.”

Manchin then states, “I don’t want her as a leader of our country at all. I think it would be devastating,” adding, “And she knows that. We have differences of opinion. You can still be respectful to each other and just totally disagree.” On-screen graphics reference a possible AOC 2028 run and ask whether a socialist could win the White House.

What People Are Saying About Manchin’s Stance on AOC

Several users questioned the significance of the statements, with one writing “Nobody gives a *expletive*” and another saying, “I don’t think anyone cares what Manchin says! He has been irrelevant in politics for years now!”

Some referenced his political history, noting, “He voted for Trump, but can’t vote for a female environmentalist because…coal.”

Others focused on his current standing, with comments such as “Does anyone really care what Joe Manchin thinks?” and calls to “Get his irrelevant *expletive* off my screen.”
