There are difficulty settings for the several modes in Mortal Kombat 1. You can change the difficulty for the MK1‘s story and Tower Mode to either be Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, or Very Hard. The easier difficulty options make the game accessible to more people, especially those who don’t want an overly punishing experience. However, sometimes a video game will forbid you from getting an achievement if you play it in a too-easy setting. That said, we will answer whether you can get all the achievements in Mortal Kombat 1 no matter the difficulty.
Does Difficulty Determine Achievements in MK1?
Achievements and trophies in the Xbox and PlayStation consoles are milestones you reach when completing specific tasks. Some achievements and trophies are locked behind the caveat that you must play the game at a particular difficulty.
For example, some titles will only give you an achievement for completing the campaign of a game if you beat it on a Medium. Completing the title on anything lower than a Medium will not gain you the achievement. This encourages the gamer to get better at the game if they wish to receive every achievement.
From our experience with Mortal Kombat 1, the difficulty setting doesn’t determine what kind of achievements or trophies you gain. You unlock achievements and trophies no matter how easily you play the game. However, the settings are only determined while playing against CPUs in Campaign and Tower mode. Plenty of achievements involve online play, meaning you must get good enough to defeat other players.
Does Difficulty Affect Rewards Earn in Matches?
You earn more currency like Koins if you beat CPUs on higher difficulty in Mortal Kombat 1. Nevertheless, for the premium currency, like Dragon Krystals, the amount you gain is the same no matter what. We also haven’t noticed if you earn better gear for winning matches on higher difficulty. The gear unlocked is the same, no matter the difficulty.
The only incentive to not play the game in lower-difficulty settings is the desire for a challenge. Playing a title on an easy or lower difficulty can take away the joy of figuring out a game firsthand. You can always change the difficulty setting in Mortal Kombat 1 story mode through the Gameplay option under the Settings selection in the Main Menu.
