Many players are finally experiencing what it is like to be a student at Hogwarts. Portkey Games‘ latest title brings a lot of activities that immerse gamers into this beautifully crafted world. From potion-making to flying on a broom, there are many things to see and do. Besides that, one big thing that you’ll experience during your playthrough is visiting your Common Room. This room will differ depending on the house you choose during your first hours in the game. With that in mind, players wonder if Hogwarts Legacy has house-specific quests. Well, don’t worry because today we’ll answer that question here so you know what the house differences are.

House-Specific Quests in Hogwarts Legacy

(Updated on September 30, 2024 – updated links and format)

The truth is that you’ll get house-specific quests in Hogwarts Legacy only during the first hours of the game. You’ll notice a quest to find the Map Chamber in the game. We won’t spoil this too much, but each house gets to this place differently. While the main story missions and companion quests are all the same, these missions differ depending on your chosen house. While you won’t be missing a lot, it is nice to see that the developers changed things up depending on your choices. Plus, this isn’t the only difference in house-picking in the game. The first time you enter a Common Room will differ for every house. The same applies to the first characters you meet inside this place.

Other House Differences Explained

Beyond that, some main story quests change a bit depending on the house of your choosing. While the changes might not be too noticeable, there are a few dialogues that differ depending on what House you’ve picked. This is great as it incentivizes players to try a different playthrough as a member of another of the iconic houses of Hogwarts. So yes, sadly, Hogwarts Legacy only has a few house-specific quests, but that shouldn’t put you down. There are many details to discover in different playthroughs, and you should try visiting all Common Rooms. With that in mind, get ready to play the game at least four times to experience everything it has. From a colorful cast of characters to different endings, this is the biggest RPG of the year, and we’ve just scratched the surface.

Which House Should You Pick?

It comes down to personal preference and the colors you like the most. Yet, there are some things here and there that might nudge you in a specific direction. We don’t want to spoil too much, but one house goes to Azkaban before discovering the Map Chamber. While the time there is short and not even playable, it is great to see this iconic location even for a short while.

On the other hand, you’ll get different companions as you play. While you can do most of the companion quests regardless of your house, you’ll get to see them in a more personal way. For Sebastian, you’ll meet him way earlier if you pick Slytherin instead of someone who picks Hufflepuff. So, that’s another reason to think twice before making the final call. If you pick a house and don’t like how the story unfolds, you can start a new game before diving deep into Hogwarts and its surroundings.
